Has anyone hade a Truvativ Hammerschmidt Am, what are your thoughts on them?
did you have one on a full suss or hardtail ? are they reliable in winter mud etc.
Just sold mine on eBay and returned to 1x9, but to answer your questions... It was 100% reliable and shifting was instant and clean, always. Kinda neat feeling changing gear whilst stationary and it being crisp when you then set off..
I did not like the SRAM shifter, I have always been a Shimano user and the shift sequence was not intuitive for me.
I ran mine on an Intense SS2 and in the end found the weight penalty too much of a compromise for not enough benefit over my 1x9. However I tend to use this particular bike for more gravity based riding than trail riding and so the extra gearing is not a must have. I would say on a burly do it all bike where weight was not a major motivation and for a happy SRAM user it would be fine, but it's expensive! And mine went for next to nowt second hand ๐ฅ
Also bear in mind most suspension systems are designed to work the most efficiently in the middle ring and the Hammerschmidt size wise is like a granny ring so it may muck up the suspension performance. Obviously no such issues with hard tails though.
jonny have you tarted them up look like carbon cranks
