Dunno about for grinding teeth but I've been watching a bit of BMX lately and a fair few of those riders seem to wear them.

Not used one for riding, but if you do get one, get one custom made by the dentist. That way it will stay in and allow you to breathe much easier.

From my experience the only people riding BMX wearing a mouth guard are Yanks, who have a thing about pearly whites and smiles that glisten, any way that's my tuppence worth,

If you grind your teeth without one in your still gonna do it regardless, the only difference is the guard will delaminate,
From my own point of view the less obstruction in your mouth the better, maybe fine in a foam pit or at a park but out on the trail on your loan some, I wouldnt.

Personal choice. I don't think I'd be comfortable breathing, crashing, etc

lots of riders on bmx i know wear a mouth guard. bar spin tricks into foam pits while they learn means less teeth injury for them. for me i only wore one for boxing etc

ride harder so you can't help gasping for air.
cant grind with you mouth wide open!
