really wierd place. mile after mile of concrete. that is the East German side of the border, about 5-10 from the actual border. there is a singletrail running the entire length of the true border, interspersed with old stone markers marking the border between Bavaria and Thuringia.

If you go to the Harz mountains they have the same kind of tank tracks running over the tops of the mountains which is where the border used to be.
I can't really see for that enormous thing that appears to be attacking your seatpost. It's blocking the view.
Yeah, was there in 2000 - very very eerie place, on some stretches the little wooden guard towers are still up

riding along the panzerstraßen is awful. lots of little holes to catch the front wheel.
the singletrack along the 'true' border is ok - if a little flat in places. odd to think you caould have been shot for wandering around there 20 years ago.
The border when it reached the beach on the German Baltic....
