Very interested in the GT Grade for an all rounder -
Anybody know how wide an offroad tyre you can get in the back there?
I'm assuming something like the Schwalbe CX Pro (30mm I think) would be fine..?
I think so. I have the GT Grade Tiagra, I run a 35c Kenda Happy Medium and it has a bit of room still.
Good answer! Thanks!
How does it ride? Only heard good things about them.
There's not much offroad from my door, so I was thinking it might be a good bike to extend my range a bit.
Those Kendas look pretty decent.
I love it, great for gravel in the New Forest and a bit of proper off roading and its still fast on the road. I am doing the Dorset Gravel Dash on it in a few weeks.
The only criticism I have is it wasn't assembled very well, to the point I had to get the rear wheel re-built as I was snapping spokes so often, I have to shorten gear outer and adjust a few other bits.
I have a Small Bloc8 on the front and the Happy Medium on the back has been very good, the Small Bloc8 is a bit draggy on road but superb off road.
I nearly went for the 105 but I think the Spyre brakes are better than Hybr'ds and the price hike wasn't worth it for 10spd.

That photo doesn't show the BB yoke which is where the tight clearance is!
True. I could see there was loads at the seat stays - it was the chainstays I was wondering about.
Thanks Soma Rich.
Looks sweet. 🙂
There's enough room for 35mm SB8s in my Grade Ultegra, but not a lot of space in the fork/chainstay. I'm waiting for more tubeless options so I can try a 38mm. It would be nice if they had room for 40mm with good mud clearance.
Currently having new bike meltdown here and just "discovered" the Grade - which looks sweet
What sizes have you all gone for and what are your vital statistics 🙂 ?
There seems to be a feel for going down a size on some other sites Ive found
And can you really fit proper mudguards?
The seat stay clip on bracket looks a bit fragile and Id need to run SKS or similar year round
Cheers!
I would have loved the grade but they haven't imported any XXL(60) into the UK. Checked with the importer directly. 🙁
Out of curiosity, how do these compare to the Arkose?
Posted this just in another thread -
Grade 105 Carbon 58cm - 6'4" with 35in inside leg - I nearly dismissed the Grade as i assumed I'd need a 60cm XXL which they weren't importing. I paid a refundable £50 deposit to Evans to get a 58 cm to try and it turned out to be just right - had to put a shorter stem on it though.
The only other non MTB that I've owned in the last 10 years was a Specialised Sirrus hybrid which was a 61cm - the Grade 58cm feels a bigger bike. I'm generally on 21inch MTB.

Running 35's Kenda Happy Mediums - no complaints but nothing really to compare them to. I don't think I'd get anything wider on it - I'll post a picture later,
Hi - thanks for posting
I'm just over 6' and am trying to find a L to swing a leg over for size - they are a bit scarce in Cambridge
If you're a bit taller and are happy with an XL with a shorter stem then the L should be OK for me when I can find one
Out of interest Im curious about the mudguard bracket needed on the carbon models
Its unlikely I will have the cash for a carbon one but does the bracket come with the bike as new 'cos I cant see it listed as an accessory anywhere? Obvs also a bit worried if it gets broken/lost then where can you get replacements or is there a random one I can buy from anywhere?
Cheers Paulx
Anyone running a Large can give me their stats?
I was just about to post the same, I usually take a large as I have a long back and tried the large and the medium park in Evans carpark and i could barely get my leg over the large its massive. It's supposed to be a 56cm, I ride a 57cm Kinesis and its miles bigger.
