is there an easy cycle track from grasmere to ambleside which is suitable for kids? I've heard it mentioned but cant find any exact info on it. How do you get onto it from Ambleside / Grasmere and is it relatively flat

thanks

Google says to do this:
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Ambleside/Grasmere/ @54.4433638,-3.0033949,13z/data=!4m34!4m33!1m25!1m1!1s0x487c94bd934b51e3:0x65a479dfb2ad3093!2m2!1d-2.961333!2d54.428736!3m4!1m2!1d-2.9776715!2d54.4484171!3s0x487cea5e5f9a6caf:0x7ad97f1842b65da1!3m4!1m2!1d-2.9800998!2d54.4487941!3s0x487cea671d060eb5:0xff98b2073a6cc644!3m4!1m2!1d-2.9837933!2d54.4486643!3s0x487cea652e403189:0x1e38890612104e20!3m4!1m2!1d-2.9924478!2d54.4501982!3s0x487cea652e403189:0x1e38890612104e20!1m5!1m1!1s0x487cc194a9ef34f9:0x3d8ffdec8fb1681a!2m2!1d-3.0243919!2d54.459734!3e1

Looks quite sensible to avoid the main road. I've no experience of those trails personally, though.

EDIT: I tried to fix the link but failed. Cut and paste the whole of that text into a browser...

It starts just north of Ambleside and runs to the east of the A591. It's marked with a dotted line on google maps.

Depending on their age, should be fine, a few ups and downs, generally good surface. You do have to do a stretch of the main road out of town but there is a pavement.

Would this track be suitable for a pushchair?

Yes, pushchair-able. Not flat, undulating.....From ice cream van at bottom of rydal water, takes the far shore from the road rising above the woods at white moss then dropping down to Grasmere shore, then climbs a bit to the road from Grasmere to Langdale (red bank). Worst bit for kids is that last bit along the road to Grasmere due to traffic/busy with walkers on weekend, but surface is all good.

I'd sneak through the park in Ambleside and over the little hump back bridge to avoid the main road. (Yes, it's a footpath but no-one seems to mind).

Signs now up saying its ok to Cycle, just to be considerate to other park Users...
