I need one that will give me a grid ref,don't really need much else from one.Any suggestions?

basic garmin ones will do that like etrex.If you can afford one with mapping they are a lot better.

i've got an Etrex that I used for exactly that (and following routes). Simple, rugged and good battery life.
Got a SatMap now, so will be selling mine if you are interested - e-mail in profile. Just got to find the cable (to connect it to the pc) and bar mount 😕
