This will only be relevent to folks in Newcastle Upon Tyne...
There was a jump park in Gosforth Park next to the garden centre which to my knowledge has been there for donkeys years. About 6 months ago i was out with the dog and noticed that it had all been flattened by a jcb of some sort..
Just wondering if anyone on here had any knowledge of this and why this would of happened?
It was a good spot, much better than any concrete / steel parks i've ever seen and was always popular with the local kids (and me)...
Another thing gone for the local youths to use..

Perhaps the Marriot or garden center took exception to yoofs, or, if it wasn't an offically sanctioned site, it's possible that the Council will have levelled it.
A few years ago there were some incidents in Jesmond Dene where kids were getting hurt - as kids do - on jumps they'd made themselves. Since the Dene is Council maintained, people were pointing the finger in their direction and suggesting liability. Some areas were fenced off to make jumping impossible and others, where jumps kept reappearing, were just bulldozed on a regular basis.
I agree that it's a shame. The jumps at Gosforth looked very impressive and must had a lot of work put into them, not to mention the hours of fun that must have been had.
I thought that gosforth Park was a private estate though? I wouldn't of thought that it was on the land of the Marriot or garden centre.
Do you know of anywhere else local with such a hidden gem?

I was thinking more about people complaining about noise/mess. I was just ruminating, of course, but if the jumps were built by/for somebody other than the landowner or land management then, trespassing issues aside, public liability strikes me as No.1 reason for flattening this kind of thing. If you do a search for 'gossy jumps' - which is what they were called locally - you might find something more.
There are still some jumps in Gosforth Woods (other side of the racecourse), or at least there were when I walked through there during the summer. They did look a bit worse for wear, though. Sorry I can't be of much use to you, but DJ'ing has never been my thing. That said, I've decided to build a pump track in my garden over the winter!
