I'm in, mens pairs; wave to the guy on the black kinesis.

Are rear lights required?

Will do. And no I don't think so. No one used them last year! And I am going to be racing as part of the THT Fat-tree Race Team. ๐Ÿ˜€

They shouldn't be allowed, let alone required! Nowt more annoying than someone using a rear light off road!

I'm in mixed pairs, hopefully near the front, black/yellow Beyond MTBs kit on an S-Works Epic, give us a shove if you wouldn't mind!

As njee says, please don't use a rear light - completely unnecessary and highly irritating!

Will be soloing - a couple of downpours today should have damped down the dust nicely ๐Ÿ™‚

I am in. Mixed pair category with my wife. Seeing as more and more fast teams keep entering this category I think we will be hoping not to finish last. Nick, you might have a bit of competition from one of the THT mixed pairs...

Rear lights will cause disqualification*

*Not sure if that is totally true, but they are very annoying.

Nick, you'll be good. Rachel is riding strongly atm. Hopefully there will be a team or two to battle against. Its a bit of shame you don't know who has signed up though. I wonder why Jon never posts up the entry list.

Mens Pairs for me this time. Good training for Pisgah in October.

I wondered if you and Lou would be doing it Jason, with your form at Are You Tough Enough you should go well!

Who else have THT got in then? Jo and someone?

Solo eh Jay? That's brave, I know your pain!

My better half was supposed to be riding with Jo, but got poorly, so Jo's roped in her man instead.

Who's the other half of your pair Nick?

Yes, racing with Lou - although after the pressure of the Big Bike Bash we are just using this weekend to chill out.

Jo's other half has only raced a mtb once or twice, but he is very quick on the road.

Was over there this afternoon, course is running fast and dry, maybe even a little loose and dusty in places, but it's ace! I thin kthe course chances from last years race are a big improvement, and being able to ride it in the dry as it was intended made it a lot of fun. Could be some quick laps tomorrow (not from me however as I'm doing my first 12h solo!) and good luck to all who are racing.

I'm riding with Rachel Fenton, Expert cat Cambridge Uni rider, she and her SO Chris Pedder won the Brighton Big Dog, so should go pretty well with a bit of luck!

Looking forward to it!

So then, what did you think of it? for me I thought it was a brilliant event (again), this time with good racing weather.

Course was technical and varied enough to keep you interested yet flowed well and made the most of fireroads for the height gains. Okay, so some of the trails were a 'bit' loose as they hadn't bedded in but that just added to the fun, and at least it wasn't mud!

Currently recovering from a 12hr solo, my body aches and I appear to be grazing on whatever food is in the fridge or cupboard.

Absolutely awesome course, though my quads are aching from attacking the climb after "Duck or Grouse" every lap! Just about recovered now though....

Excellent, really good fun. Managed 10 laps without coming out of the big ring once, which I was pretty pleased with, gutted to miss out on second by 18 seconds, but that's racing.

Course was spot on I thought, long fireroads to eat/drink/over take, good singletrack some really fast pedally bits, some twisty turny stuff, a few bits to pick your way though.

Spot on. Chapeau to Pants/Paul Howard!

njee20 Tried the Big Ring thing and made it round most of Cse in it apart from the last major hill after DUCK OR GROUSE, well done if you got up that in it, I was worried about snappage along with the legs up that little bugger lol..

Only have a 40t 'big' ring which helps, but yeah that was a bit of a bugger! Rocket Rons were definitely the tyre for the course though, tonnes of grip in the loam!

Great event. Good course, fun atmosphere and nice mix of "racers" and "riders".
Good lap distance/time which gave us something to think about with tactics.

I thought it was a great event. The course seemed just right for a 12 hour race. And how dusty was it! We finished 5th in the mixed pairs, we could have been 4th but as we were a lap off getting on the podium so thought we may as well retire early to crack open the beer.

Nick your were right about your last lap being a bit quick!

For anyone that hasn't spotted them:

Well done to all the Gorrick team who put the event on.
