Is the little yellow logo sleeve thing heat shrink? Am I right in thinking a once over with a blow torch will do it nicely or am i about to set fire to normal plastic?

Lighter just melted it... C'mon that little yellow tag is the most important bit!

I don't think its heat shrink. Brake fluid will also remove the logo if you want the 'debadged look'.

hmm, that sucks as its a good 1mm wider than the gear cable housing, and hence just slides around looking gash.

Slide it right up over the connector at the lever

The yellow bits in gear and brake cable kits (not hydraulic hose) are a bit hit and miss. One was fine the next required me to use some electrical tape round the ferrule to make the yellow piece stay inplace. Yes they are the most important bits!
