Just to pile on about that otherwise lovely looking Transition, doesn't that hefty deore cassette go against the lightish nature of the bike.

I've always liked my Canfield, which for a 230mm travel DH bike with idler has simple lines and some nice bits of CNC. Anodised finish still looks good 15 years later as well.

@noeffsgiven sorry I should have gone for the higher spec build! As it is that bike cost more than my car 😅

My antique Kona. Sadly stolen these many years.

Kona 8 - dirty

I like the way the seat stays are where they’d be on a hardtail.

I like the straight tubes as well. It looks purposeful. Perhaps the mud helps. I have a Giant NRS now and it never looked right until it had some mud on it. Then it looked proper. It’ll never be as pretty as the Kona though.

It’s one of the few 26ers which looks really right<br />

It really isn’t.

I think generally bike looks are more dependent on geo than wheel size, but on the whole I think 26ers looked better. 29ers too often look like they're a tiny frame suspended between giant wheels.

Does depend a lot on frame size though, very large frames on 26" wheels does look odd.

They did when they first started being a thing, not so much now. Most 29'ers tend to look well proportioned now I think

“ For me anything with external cabling is a no no”

Aha, so it’s all your fault!

I don't know what that is, but it looks like someone's Photoshopped a shock into an image of a steel hardtail - ie: it's a full sus that doesn't look like one, which kind of says it all really 🙂

External cable routing, not such a pretty rear triangle, the high chainline (whatever they call it) and no idea what's going on with the saddle angle, but for an Enduro bike this almost looks ok. Reason for posting - the shock placement is 👌

Doesn't quite work for me, reminds me of a Liteville maybe?

It's a good realisation of a concept though and I wish them well - it'd be interesting to hear how it rides.

I do like that Spur. Top tube and seatstays inline seems to do it. Always liked my Process 111 for that, shown here with some 26ers when I got it:

Thanks! More niche than a niche thing, but it does look nice, mostly though I think, because it doesn't really look much like a full sus.

There's always odd stuff going on with aesthetics. I think it's easier to look at something with a less critical / more affectionate eye if it rides really well or has a special emotional pull for you. Most carbon / aluminium bikes don't really do it for me, but then I've aways liked traditional round tubes, steel and titanium, so it's understandable.  Doesn't mean I wouldn't buy a carbon-framed bicycle, but all else being equal, I'd rather not.
