Only a small thing, but well handled. I took up the recommendation of a few folk on here and got some Specialized Rocca lock-on grips, but managed to round off one of the small Allen key bolts when I fitted them. Having had no joy looking for the bolts in various LBSs, including a Spesh dealer, I emailed Specialized who replied straight away to say that the bolts aren't a stock item but that they'd see what they could do. I got home yesterday to find a package containing a new set of grips, which have now been (very carefully) fitted. I didn't say what colour I needed, but they managed to guess that correctly too!

On the subject of tiny Allen key bolts, am I particularly clumsy or do other people find that a moment's lapse in concentration can lead to a rounded off bolt head which you then can't work with? It's happened to me a couple of times now and it seems to me that the combination of soft metal and tiny Allen keys is a recipe for frustration and annoyance.

those bolts only need light nipping - you dont need to hang off them to tighten them and crimp your bars

if only nipping i find it hard to see how unless using shit allen keys you are rounding them.

I'm doing up my CX bike at the moment ready for the Three Peaks, anyway the saddle (a Specialized Alias) is sagging badly on one side and the nose area is also coming unstuck. Not really expecting much (the saddle is almost exactly a year old, I fitted it last time I prepped the bike for the race) I called Specialized who said the saddle wasn't really designed for the jumping on and off that happened in CX but they'd replace it anyway under warrnaty with one that was more suitable!

Just waiting now for the new saddle to arrive. Top service from Specialized, above and beyond the call of duty. ๐Ÿ™‚

lovely service, and slightly amusing that they couldn't just send you a bolt! (if they were feeling that generous would't they have sent both?)

I rode past an ex-golfing banker at a trail centre the other a week, he was on a 2010 Specialized S-Works Epic. Called up Specialized to compliment them on it, and they sent me one the following day - free of charge! 9/10

LOL @ 0091paddy. Well my 2007 Stumpjumper is beginning to look a bit dated and interrupted seat tubes are so passe, so perhaps I'll mail their Customer Service about that and start watching out for the courier van...

Thanks for the replies about rounding off bolts. I'll just have to accept that I'm the Jar-Jar Binks of bike maintenance and take more care from now on.
