A good turnout for the mid-week bash this afternoon.
15 of us set out from Rochechouart under clear blue skies. The pace was friendly enough to Nontron, but on the way home, Oh la la, putain de merde!!!! At one point I was breaking it down into 30 second bits. Like, just hang on for 30 more seconds, Then just hang on for another 30. Agony and extasy at the same time. Problem being that one of the young guns has a new bike, and he's gotta show us how fast it can go.
But in true French roadie style the pace eased over the last 5 kms to allow a regrouping so that we all arrive home together. It was a great afternoon on the road.
Anyone else?
Been for a 50 miler with some old boys (who are still quicker than me!) from the local club today. My 2nd ride on the bike, not having had a road bike properly in years.
Pace was probably a fair bit more gentle than your ride sounds, but was all good all the same!
Standard wednesday club run and chaingang. Tailwind out from Lufbra to Belvoir, and a killer headwind for the second half of the loop. I stopped for a pee at half way point so destroyed myself getting back onto the group before the chaingang started. Then blew up after about 5 trips up the pace line when I had to pull through to the front immediately after my turn because of a massive gap. Nackered now!
...Nackered now
Yeah, but it is a great beer earning Knackered innit?
Out on my todd as usual on Saturday round Mull. 85 miles and ~3100m of ascent, thats almost as much as the 100 mile Applecross circuit, which is craxy considering the biggest climb is about 175m...
Either way, it hurt, I've lost my hill-climbing legs so its mid-week hill climbs on the commute from now on!
Three of us had a return to winter ride up over the convals in Moray. Pretty much an up and down affair, but my third ride in 4 days and i can feel my fitness getting back to how i remember it. ๐
Even the evil cold wind and snowy conditions couldn't lessen my spirits.
Ben Lommond this coming Sat, bring it on..
Loving riding again....
sharki - I might be being a bit slow here mate, but why are you in Scotland? In whatever case, I hope you are enjoying it.
SB
Had one of those vary rare occassions where I couldn't wait to get off the bike. Relentless winds were killing me, when the week before I had put a great time in for a 100. Ended up finding the hilliest route back just to stand on the pedals and turn an easy gear.
How come so many of you are out in numbers during the day midweek?
Ah evening ride.
...How come so many of you are out in numbers during the day midweek?
It's half-term here oldgit.
Couldn't wait to get off the bike? - a feeling I know well! ๐
SB, i never made it out of Scotland after coming up at the end of August.
Reasons? Well it's a bit lovely, the people are great and thirdly, after spring and summer in the hot south west, it seemed fitting to spend the Autumn and winter freezing me butt off up here in the higher lats.
All to change soon as i revisit the home county for a few weeks holiday(AKA bailing a mate out with a house renovation whilst his wife drops a calf)
But in true French roadie style the pace eased over the last 5 kms to allow a regrouping so that we all arrive home together
probably the reason for the last few years drought in the race win column, seem to have picked up now though
