So,
The clowns in my local bike shop ordered me the wrong size Stans tubeless kit, (the all mountain one instead of the XC one)...
So my options are, either stick with tubes, or try running tubeless using the tape, which I found another shop has the right size of.
I have a 24 hour race over the weekend and was hoping to have it all sorted by now, didn't need this hassle!
Anyone's thoughts on my best option please???

If you have Stans rims then you shouldn't need rim strips only the tape.
If the tape's too wide, simply apply it and then trim the excess that rides into the bead with a craft knife.
They're DT rims. Still good to go?

I would personally not be getting into setting up and testing a new tubeless setup this close to a big event, especially without tubeless rims. It can be done but I wouldn't want to depend on it. I'm assuming from your post it's new ground for you though, so if that's not the case feel free to ignore!
Ive run Stans tubeless system a few times before, mostly with Stans rims though. I had hoped to have my current bike set up tubeless long ago, but things got in the way.
Yes I agree, usually I hate making changes on my bike this close to a race, its one of the big no no's in my book. If it works out though it will be much better than tubes! I usually carry a spare tube, and pump even when running tubeless, to be safe.
DTs should be fine with tape. Just do it.

Sounds like a plan then. How do you get the valve to seal properly? Do your tyres ever burp?

I'm with Northwind on this, last thing you want are any teething issues right now. Think it through and sort it straight after.
been running stans tape on dt rims for 3 years now works fine (though i do have a compressor 😉 ).
