Going to Inverness ...

[Closed] Going to Inverness next weekend...Any suggestions on where to ride?

I am going to Inverness next weekend for a couple of nights and have both sat and sun free during the day. As such I thought I'd bring the bike and see if I can find some nice trails.

Any suggestions easily accessible from the city centre? I have a car and can go further afield and would be bringing either the mtb or cx bike. Avoiding the roads as much as possible at this time of year, otherwise I'd be taking a spin along shore of Loch Ness.

Any suggestions welcome

Ta

There are nice trails in every direction round here, what type of ride do you want? Downhill? Scenic? Pootle?

If you dont mind driving a chunk of distance, but you're still way closer than any large town pretty much anywhere in the UK, I'd be driving up to Golspie!! Also a big fan of Lagan Wolftrax. Spent a few holidays now basing myself in Inverness and exploring round there so I'm slightly jealous!

Craig Dunain and Craig Phadraig overlook the town and only 5mins ride away. Some nice Singletrack tho not always easy to find or link together. Also some more full on DH stuff if that way inclined.

Fine for passing a couple of hours. If want some company or guiding, let me know.

As others have suggested Golspie or laggan good shouts for trail centre stuff and only 1 hour away. Lots of natural stuff at Contin, Evanton, Aviemore only half hour away. Spoilt for choice.

The Great Glen Way is quite nice, for a bit of easy gravel style stuff. Should be fine on a CX bike, though a few steep hills. You can start from the town centre, follow it as far as you like. Maybe up to Abriachan for a wee spin around the trails there. And good views over Loch Ness.

Balblair has to be visited. There really is nothing else like it. Also, wot they all said above.

Moray Monster Trails? Never ridden them, but reasonably nearby.
