The old 3x9 transmission on my hardtail is 90% dead.

It's christmas and I've spent all my cash on other people so I'm thinking of going down the 1x10 route as cheap as possible. Can anyone tell me of this will all work together.

Superstar 32 narrow wide chainring
Existing deore triple cranks
New 10 speed zee shifter (they're on sale!)
Slx med cage rear mech
Xt 11-36 cassette and the option of buying a 42 range extender if my legs are too girly!

Thanks in advance!

You'll need a 10 speed chain as well, and probably some shorter chainring bolts.

Consider keeping the old 22t granny ring on there too if it's not too worn..

It means changing the chain by hand but it'll give you lower bailout gears too if you need them...

I did with intention of getting a one up 42 in the future.. and to be honest I don't think I'll bother now.. the hidden granny works well enough for me..

I can even change down using my foot as a front mech 50% of the time! Needs more practice tho..!

As per northernmatt, 10 speed chain and some single chainring bolts. A ten speed quick link would also be a good idea, although they are so much tighter than the nine speed version I think it should just be called a 'link'.

I'd go for a clutch mech too.
