Global Fat Bike day 2014 is on Saturday 6th December
http://fat-bike.com/2014/10/global-fat-bike-day-%E2%99%A6-december-6th-2014/
There are several UK group rides (Mid Scotland, N West England & Down on the South coast), if you can't ride one of them and your tyres are 3.8" wide or over just get out on your own on that day and take a photo to show that you did.
I will be. Down south. 8)
Luckily it's also "global alloy frame, 69 degree head angle, 29"wheels, full suspension bike" day too, so I'll be out riding.
So, where do I find details of the uk rides?

And Tain (apparently)
I'll make a point of riding something other than my fatbike on that day then.
They're just bikes.
Nowt special.
Stu you party pooper!
I, too, will be out down south. Charlie the bikemonger appears to be doing the south coast gathering ๐
He did an ace job last year!
Tried to join the fat bike forum but not heard anything yet, does anyone know how to get in touch.
Dorset sounds good!

The weather's looking dry on the North west of England for the Merseyside coastal edition of GFB day on Saturday.
About a dozen riders already signed up over on UK Fat Bike forum.
Plus other group rides planned in
Stoke on Trent
Forest of Dean
East Lothian
Dorset
Cheers for the headsup of places to avoid due to the people being total devoid of any kind of personality or riding skillz.
can you have a "global day" like its something special for a product that every manufacturer under then sun has?
surely it should be a "look at me, I'm a portly middle aged bloke, biffling around on a crap bike with stupid tyres" day
it'll be bloody "global 1x10" week next

You can ride in more than one place at one time?
Tazzy, I'm sending you a special fat beardy biffer, sandal and sock wearing man love hug for December 6th...
Awesome ๐
if you can't ride one of them and your tyres are 3.8" wide or over
3.7" only.
What a shame. Not cool enough to hang with the cool kids.
I know, I'll start my own "day". How about something like, "Global ride a bike day". Shall we say, the 6th of December? Who's with me?

i think your personality is on view for all to see in that statement Stu
I'll be riding my fat bike on the 6th. Mainly because I'll be riding a bike on the 6th, not because someone said I should ride that bike in particular...
Meanwhile there's an attention seeker sat on a beach crying because everybody's jumped on the bandwagon.
There is a bit of that around, plus a lot of "why don't they understand us" teenage-like angst going on. Meanwhile, some of us are just calmly riding our bikes about.
Oh no your not ๐
Some people decide to have a bit of fun and others feel they need to piss on their chips.

Those going do seem to happy to socialise with others so must have some personality. No one has claimed they are riding gods just people who want to ride their bikes.

Oh yes, my cracked rib. Still, at least bone heals. Not like Titanium....
Calm down i was just taking the p a little. ๐
I just don't see the need for a specific day to ride my fatbike/singlespeed/hardtail/fullsuss/tandem.
If you do though good for you.

Aye but at your age these things take a while. Still if you'd been riding a proper bike with grip you might not have fallen off.

Sounds like you ride a back pedaler too
And yet the same could be said about many other things. For instance, we shouldn't need a specific day to remember the war dead and I'm sure many of us don't wait until the 11th November to do so.singlespeedstu - Member

IIRC, the GBFD really started when fatbikes were a bit more niche and it was a way of meeting other folk similarly inflicted, as much to see what developments were as anything else. Now that fatbikes are more mainstream it's becoming less necessary to seek out like-minded souls so maybe the idea will slowly fade away? However, there are lots of single-marque type events taking place in the motoring/motorcycling community that have a long, long history.
Some people are touchy aren't they. ๐
