Visiting the Tweed valley this week and a quick splat around the red today. I noticed from the signs that the black diversion came up to spooky wood. Is the black worth riding at the mo with the diversion in place?

It's not too bad. It does cut a chunk out of deliverance, which I really like, but there's a new section been built further round that brings you in with a wee bit to go before hitting the redemption climb. I've only done it the once but if I remember correctly it's just switchback upon switchback. Which isn't my cup of tea but you're past it fairly quickly.

Mild peril is the alternative route that haggis is on about.  I don't think that the boundary trail will ever reopen due the massive tree plates that have been uprooted.  However, bits of it have survived except you have to cross over to leithen door side and back to access them. 😅

Mild Peril was built back in 2017, I think it was built for an Enduro, certainly it was built several years before Arwen did what it did to Deliverance, it was just handy that it was there and could be used as a diversion.

As you get to the now blocked off entrance to Deliverance just after the hairpin keep going and you get to the entrance to Mild Peril. Was down it yesterday & it's running nice. As above, loads of switchbacks which join just before the start of Redemption.

The newer offpistes are unaffected by the closures- well, directly unaffected anyway, it's harder to build good loops, but they're still an excellent addition to the black if you want a bit more riding and variety.

Also, it was kind of a point of concern even before that because of the poor access- bottom line is they'd not build it there today, even basic maintenance is a pain in the arse and casualty extraction is difficult. Five Year Plan was built partly with this in mind, and if that trail had turned out differently it might have replaced most of Boundary instead of being an alternative (as it turned out, we sorta accidentally made it a bit too hard for that to be considered). So investing a lot of effort into reopening a trail that they were already fairly unhappy with is definitely less likely.
