For a major bike brand, I don't know a single person who has ever owned one and can't recall ever seeing anyone out on the trails riding one.

Where are they all?

i rode soe at a demo day, absolutely loved them

reign x1 just makes you act like a fool, there is no limit to the size of drop off you'll attempt on it, you just ride off, relax, and soak up the landings.

anthem-x its hard to describe how fast that bike is!

I've seen a fair few at Swinley, i ride a brand new 06 trance 2 (old stock) which I've upgraded/changed the bits i didn't want. Some great deals to be had at pauls cycles on them. Mine was the last 06 trance 2 which had nearly £1000 off rrp!
A friend rides a brand new 08 trance x2 also.
Near me the decent local bike-shop is a giant and trek main dealer so you always see them around on the local trails.

There's three in my garage, maybe that's where they've all gone?

It started with an Anthem (now sold) and led on to a Trance and a Reign - and my wife has an XTC.

I love the Maestro suspension, and I quite like the low-key image.

Building an XTC up now and my son has my SCR Ltd road bike.

Had the older XTC 80mm hardtail, an NRS Carbon and Trance 1 though I kept buying too small. The old Trance was dynamite.
Very good VFM I think, though I agree about the paint schemes however the quality is very good.

I had a giant boulder alu-shock. It lasted for quite a few years. When I got my Orange I kept the frame as I was going to build it up into a SS/Hack bike, but Mrs R reversed over it.

End of frame.

BTW, it looks like OldGit has all the Giants!

I had a ATX 850 (my first proper bike), than got a ATX 880 (same as Team frame but not Team paint). Damn light and quick. Always wanted a NRS, some were available, didn't have money, got cash no tidy ones available. Eventually fell in love with my Kinesis, tryng some FX G-zero from Scott and Fuel Ex full sussers but a bit too much for XC. Giant was spot on and lighter than my mates S-works 🙂

Loved my Giant bikes, they were just flying uphill, never had the chance to test the NRS though. I was planning to buy a Trance but for what I'm riding now my current HT is more than enough.

Selling the ATX 880 was my biggest mistake. If the guy who bought the frame is reading this I want to buy it back 😀
[img] [/img]

Upgraded to full XT and CrossRides + FSA finishing kit and RS Duke fork loved it 🙂

HERE I AM

ive got 3 currently, have owned 4 in total, and persuaded the (smelly ex) gf to buy one too (tiny sized TeamXtC, light as hell and rapid as ****)

initially blind loyalty, but they really are ace IMO, if a little dull to look at.
for the money, no other company gives you more. fact. and since theyve got rid of that crap suntour stuff and gone to RS for thier forks, theres not a lot to criticise a complete-bike-buy about.

XtC was bike of the year in 05 (ive got one of them)

Maestro system, unlike many (though not all) companies, hasnt been fiddled with in quite a few years. they dont need "the new best thing" when something works that well.
Trance is an absoloute weapon 😀
hankering after something chunkier to complement it next, a smallish reign X praps

Keeping it fleet!

I think Giant only distribute through independent bike dealers, not large chains, but then again, I have seen Giants in the usual back-of-the-mags ads. Perhaps that's why you haven't seen many around your neck of the woods? If your lbs doesn't stock em, you won't see em.

I bought an 08 Trance frame 7 months ago for £600, stuck my existing bits on it, bought some 120mm Recons for £150 and imo, I have one of the best XC/trail bikes around - all for £750. Makes me smile when my obsessive mates spend £4,000-a-piece on new bikes and mine still looks and rides as good.

Yup everyone I know back in Cardiff has at least 1 Giant ... as mentioned about independant bike shops deal them, Giant put money into the small bike shops, helps them re-invent themselves, decorate etc.

I love my Giant Reign 2, 2 years in Morzine ride it all the time. Friends have got Glorys, Faiths, Trance, Anthems.... that's what we all ride in Cardiff so come along and you'll see millions at once 😆

I love my Reign X, got the frame (07) for £300 about a month ago and it is ridiculous fun, pedal efficient, the back end's real snappy, far better than a mate's pitch and other sussers i've had a go on like Commie's etc. And yes £300 is a bargain! I snapped it up straight away, he listed tuesday I collected saturday, collection is the way to get any seller to hold an iterm for you 😉

I can think of 6 off hand in our club. They're not my kind of bike (I probably wouldn't buy one) but don't see anything wrong with them!

Love Giant bikes, ever since racing one in my Teens back in the nineties. I've had a few different brands since, but it's hard to beat the quality vs value from the brand.

Now have an Anthem (bought from Classifieds) and an XTC singlespeed. Top bikes.

Frame, not bike, stripped of paint, and no shock, but i got a float r for £40 also, so £80 for a usable frame. I was rather pleased.

My Anthem X, which now has SIDs on it charging to a 2nd at Relentless.

And my girlfriend's lovely Avail 3. So nice, in fact, that I'm going to get a Defy 2.5 to keep it company.

Tell us more about the Anthem X Rolf.

Did you ride the earlier Anthem? If so, how would you compare them?

Oh, and nice pic (and result).

i'm a big fan of giants, i've had a giant rincon, my first half decentish mtb which my old man has, an 05 XTC 3 which was my only mtb for quite a while, still have the frame.
i now have a heavily, heavily modified Reign 1 2007 which is a lot more beefed up than the original, makes a great all mountain bike. pedals all day but really opens up on the descents. just tryin to decide what colour to repaint it from the dullish green. still. its probably the best thing i've spent my student loan on so far

Chakaping- it’s without doubt the fastest XC bike I’ve ever ridden. It’s very quick uphill, and impressively capable downhill- it’s a great trail bike in it’s own right, despite it’s racey intentions. My build is 24lbs with XT, so it’s got massive potential to be a near 20lb trail bike if you can splurge on XTR and so on.

I love it.
