Just built up a new Giant Contend SL 1 as a winter bike, and had these 2 little fellas in a bag with the rest of the bits and bobs. Anyone any idea what they might be, as I certainly can't see an obvious use for them...

There is a grub screw in the front mech (shimano braze on) that braces it against the seat tube.One of these goes on the seat tube to stop it getting marked.

Great stuff thanks! Not dealt with an 11 speed braise on before, didn't know about that little grub screw!
They originated on the original Di2 mechs (they have got some welly!) and it has made it's way to the 11sp mechanical stuff.Rarely see them used on new bikes from the factory.Makes a bit of difference too.

Don't loose them either! Pain to replace I didn't know about the screw or those bit and lost them. My front derailleur wouldn't stay indexed untill I fitted them
