My XC ride has ghetto with electrical tape but I've run out so was wondering if I can the ordinary plastic rim tape instead for my new wheels.
Anyone tried it? Any feedback as to why I can't / shouldn't. I can't imagine it would contribute to any danger of pinching the tube and it won't move because of the valve stem...
Or I maybe wrong!

Just makes it harder to get the initial bead seating on some tyres, no other reasoning as far as I know. One of my rims works without any rim tape at all.
