what is the best way to get tyres on the rim to fit correctly, i always find some of the edge of the tyre doesnt rest at the outta most edge of the rim, but rather sits in the middle. this causes the tyre to turn wonky when the wheel rotates. the rim is fine and true.

any advice welcome

Inflate to 80psi, wait for the pops and deflate.

80 should be fine unless it's a mega thin tyre or a really knackered lightweight rim.

i use a dab of washing up liquid around the tyre bead if i have a tight one

Nope! Will probably reseat during a ride. 80 psi was only an arbitrary figure anyway, I just keep inflating until they pop!

i had a right bastard recently, ran fairy liquid round the edges, pumped it up then jammed it in the hinge side of a door (to hold it) and levered it, popped into place at last..

Dust the bead with talc. Best natural dry rubber lubricant known to man.
