Any tips welcome

Aim for the valve hole - it's bigger! Just shake / bounce the rim with the hole at the bottom..

Shake, Rattle and Roll

Or magnetic pokey thingy - you got one right? It's the thing in the tool box stuck to everything else

I shook it. A lot.

After that episode I made my own nipple setter by sticking a bit of masking tape on an old spoke a few threads in, then threading nipples on the wrong way, poking it through the rim, and screwing it on to the actual spoke.

Reading back, that made no sense.

Shake it some more.

You’ll invent some new swear words before it comes out, but it will eventually come out....

Another hack is to cut the end off a cotton bud diagonally.. squishes into the end of the nipple and holds it fine.

See if you can get it near the valve hole and use a piece of wire e.g. Paperclip to fish it out. For deep rims I just thread the nipple onto another spoke

Wooden cocktail sticks are great for fitting nipples. But for getting strays out it's just shaking and frustration

Cheers

Its out now, as is the second one I lost in there lol.

Alloy nipples are stupid

DT swiss torque alloy nipples are very stupid as you have to buy yet another tool.

Straight pull spokes are also rubbish.

New normal brass nipples now fitted

personally I like the Dt squorx nipples , you can use a normal Spoke key or a driver from the back with is much much better imo.
