The pink thread is the tyre bead, and the tyre wasn't showing any signs of being about to blow before we set off.
I had a nevegal do exactly the same thing at Afan a month back.
Put your spare tyre on.
have you inverted the image? surely the drivetrain should be on the other side?

We did get it to last for about a mile down the track by taping it with duck tape and zip ties, but the terrain we were on wasn't the best for trying that kind of repair. Cue a run back to the van for Dave.
gaffa tape will sort that.

I rode the rim and its tricky for a while
The terrains real tough I could only manage a mile

I've got the Toridon way up in Scotlandcestershire most amazing decent to Annat but it got sort of screwed up and Dave had to run for a new tyre... .........blues
