In 650b format there is plenty of clearance. I think 2.1" would be max. 700c is where it gets interesting. Genesis claim 40mm clearance, but they lie! some 38s will fit (I have successfully tried kenda Flintridge and terravail cannonball. I also tired 38mm g-ones and 40mm Bonty GR2 with no luck)

I was wondering about Hunt wheels and different tyres – how you find them, which spec rims did you get ?

Hunt are go to wheels for loads of gravel riders, plenty will recommend them. I went for the mason x hunt in both standards. Ive had the 700cs for 18 months, no issues. The 650b about 6 months just as good.

<blockquote£2899 for a bike with “Jalco” rims?

They're decent rims if not well known. Make rims for other brands too. As do Kinlin for Hunt.

Dave, thanks, I was hoping to hear your view on them, much appreciated. Can’t wait to get it, Sprockets are hoping to have it next week 😀

great bikes ...i have had a 2019 full bike and have just upgraded frameset to the 2020 725 which i feel is more sprightly than the 2019 Mojnir frameset

ok its steel and there will always be small weight penalty but great ride quality and versatility far outweights any weight issues

i currently run 650b Hunt Adventure sport disc wheels with 40c gravel kings and have just bought a set of 700c Hunt 4 seasons for fast road / hardpack

just chosing some 700c tyres and wondering whether Panaracer Gravel king 38c will fit or should i opt for 32c to be safe ??

either way lovely frame and aside from 700c tyre clearance issues , rides lovely !!

38 GravelKing Sk weren’t even close to fitting on mine but that is on a narrow rim. 35mm Does fit ok.

Wildly , wildly overpriced. £2800 gets you a nice but mid priced full suss , with Rockshox lyrics or fox 36 and a good 12 speed spec. Where is the value in a £2800 glorified cyclocross bike.

Have you ride one? Overpriced on paper maybe, but it's the most fun bike I have ridden in a long time, so much so I bought two of them!

Ouch. I think the steel goes a bit funny if it isn’t ridden, so just send it over and I’ll look after it for you 😀

Got me thinking and looking. As I maybe have my eye on of these for the future. Is it the build that is ‘overpriced’ or the frameset, or both?

Fugio 2020 frameset is £799 from Spa Cycles at current price

I was seriously considering the Fugio at the end of last year, before being seduced by the 80s two-tone paint on the Kona Libre. I had looked at quite a few gravel bikes and don't recall the Fugio being particularly 'overpriced'. I got a deal on the Kona as it was a 2019 model, but I think RRP was pretty similar and the Kona 'only' has a 105/ultegra mix compared with the full 800 series GRX groupset (and dropper post) on the Fugio. OK, the Kona is carbon, but decent steel has never been cheap and there is nothing inherently better about a plastic frame.

It's the build. 800 for a frame and 800 for grx group (that's rrp remember) means there's £1k left over for wheels, tyres, dropper and own brand finishing kit.

Most bike shops would offer a wee bit off retail though surely for a full bike ?

Not really liking the wee saddlebag on the dropper so may use a tool bottle, or just a small backpack or bum bag

@trailwagger - The Fugio 2020 frameset (725 tubeset with full carbon fork - 2019 was Mjonir tubeset and a alloy steerer fork) is £950 RRP.

Anyway - important thing is that the full build is a banging colour!

^^^^ absolutely lovely colour in the flesh. That pic shows it with an ISM road saddle, I’ve now changed it to the MTB one which feels more right on the driveway test 😜. Saddlebag is off, think wee seatpack will be used.

It feels similar in weight to my Croix De Fer 30 with 105 groupset and carbon fork and a load less than my Vagabond.

Very nice. I’m using the same saddle pack on my Kona (with a dropper) after the bottle keg I had under the down tube jumped out and I lost it. Seems to work pretty well. What didn’t you like about it?

It is very functional and does the job, and I have had same issue as you with a tool bottle. Dunno, will try it and compare to a waist pack. First ride will be round Whitelee windfarm tomorrow 👍

Is it a visual thing then? I’m with you on that. I thought the bottle keg mounted under the down tube looked much better than the saddle bag. Mind you I’ve just added a top tube bag to mine and I reckon that looks much worse, so I don’t even notice the saddle bag now 🙂

Looking forward to hearing how you get on with the bike. I’m sure it will be a blast.

Take a look at 76projects little piggy. Bolts onto a bottle boss (under downtube on your fugio) very neat and functional.

First ride today, feels great on gravel and not much slower on the road sections than my CDF. Needs a wee front brake bleed I think to get the reach out a bit, lovely bike and delighted with it, fits perfectly between my CDF30 and my Vagabond.

Needs a saddle bag to detract from that saddle 🙂

Looks like a fun ride. Have you got a feel for how much you lose on the road to the CDF?

Lol 😜. Evoc waist pack today as reckoned I’d need access to tools and phone. 25 mile hilly ride, half back road, half gravel, first ride in a week also as had a bit of a bug. Strava says I was 0.3 mph down on same route vs CDF with 35c Clement Xplor. I also lost some time stopping for a few faffs.. I’d say it’s faster on gravel and a bit slower on road.

It is however hugely comfortable, I was almost seeking out holes to ride into..

Edit, yeah, have ISM saddles on all the bikes. Was initially a medical thing, however once I got used to them they are just so much more comfortable

0.3mph seems a small price to pay for all that comfort.

Yes, it is a bit compromised on the road compared to a proper road bike, but that’s not what I bought if for as I have a carbon Defy. My CDF is winter road and light trails, and the Vagabond is load lugging adventure stuff. This seems to be the ideal fun blast bike for the type of stuff I am able to ride.

Do you have a bolt in there at all? I don't get it, this is the second fugio I have owned and they have both been like this.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Does that bolt stay in you axle when you remove it?

That bolt stays where it is in the picture at all times. When I have the axle out and go to put back in, I have to push that dropout in a wee bit so the axle engages, and the bolt goes up the inside of the axle I think. It looks to me like yours has a bolt that’s a few mm too long.
