Hello Folks

I was wondering whether i could quiz you about an issue I am having with slipping gears.

When in the middle ring on the front and high gears on the back (the 2nd, 3rd& 4th smallest sprockets) the chain slips when pedaling with pressure.

• It's a new cassette and chain (both 9 speed)
• New cables
• The bike changes gear with no problems
• Pedals fine on in same gears when no force is applied
• Derailers line up with sprockets

I am at a loss as to what's causing it, and before it goes to the local bike shop wondered if i am not doing something obvious.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Did you change the middle ring?

Sounds like that'd be a good place to start looking.

Thanks folks i haven't checked the middle ring! as if felt like the back was the culprit!

I'll go and check that.

Had a similar thing last weekend - turned out to be the b-tension screw. The clearance looked OK but when I gave it a couple of turn the problem went away. I hope.

Mick try your cable tension, if its two tight, it might be try to shift under load.
Let the cable off and wind back the adjuster and try again.

Just a quick update (for future searchers), replaced the middle ring and that has solved the issue.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
