Planning to get a roadrat and run it geared. Just came to my attention that it has rear facing dropouts. I have never really had much experience of these as every bike I have owned has had vertical dropouts.
I know from tinkering with my sons (childrens) bike which is single speed the axle does not go all the way in to enable the wheel to be moved further in in order for the chain to be slackened to remove/install the wheel into the frame.
How does it work with geared roadrat? Is there much adjustment in contrast to the drop in and be done convenience of vertical drop out. Does the axle go all the into the frame?
If you're running gears then the rear derailleur will take up the slack in the chain, so feel free to push the axle all the way in ๐
Thats great. I thought that might be case from looking at pictures of it.
Does the disc rota then fit in perfectly into the caliper like it would it on a vertical drop out without any fiddling around?
diskmounts are slotted too...
sounds like a faf but reality is - if your smashing the wheel forward then you just smash the disk mount forward too and all is good.
mines got hub gears so i have to play with it
