Evening

Not 24 solo'd for a bit and it's time for another bash. ~It's the hallucinations I like. Does the Gatcombe Park course fall apart in the rain or is it splendid whatever the weather?

Did a Mayhem in torrential rain (2008?) at that Castle place in Herfordshire and keen never to do it again because of the ceaseless mud.

I am in the 'tries hard, stays out, bit rubbish, only cries in the rain when he thinks no one will notice,' category, so no sponsorship or being in sight of the podium to worry about.

Thanks

Paul

Last year was hideous, although it did dry up a bit. The layout of the course didn't help. It didn't even rain that much. I'm not going this year and I'll look to see if this years course works any better.

Like pete68, I'm giving it a miss this year. Wasn't impressed with Gatcombe last year, even a little rain seemed to make the whole place a muddy drag.

Going on past experience when the organisers say they've improved something, it usually means they haven't.

Last year only the "new" sections where a slop feast the rest was fine and hard pack.

This year is a much better looking route round and the organizers have had more time to build and prepare the course.

Live near Gatcombe. Ground is superficially dry, but water table is still quite high - on the other side of the valley to Gatcombe (best descent in area!) is ok at mo, but if it rains it goes slippery with intermittent bog bits near springs for a few days. Would have thought Gatcombe side is the same!
Not going (but only as am away)
