Any one managed to get one fitted and get cadence working?
It doesn't come close to fitting on the non-driver side. I though I'd sorted it by mounting it on drive side. Both speed and cadence worked, but the chain rubbed the speed arm.
It might work if I can mount it upside down under the swing arm on the non-drive side. If only Garmin had designed it flat on the top...
I didn't think cadence was really something very important on a mountain bike - especially something like an Orange 5.

Or you can get separate ANT+ speed and cadence sensors, eg from Bontrager.
I think you don't really need a speed sensor, GPS is good enough for that most of the time. So just get a separate cadence sensor.

If the GCS10 is set up without a magnet on the wheel it only measures cadence anyway. That means relying on GPS for speed/distance. The downsides to that are that it can get a bit lost under (wet) tree cover and it can underestimate your distance slightly.

That depends on what Garmin you are using. Some will always try to use the speed sensor if it is paired to one. So if you don't have a wheel magnet, it will just display zero for speed.
Other Garmins (eg the Dakota/Etrex) always ignore the speed sensor, and only use GPS for speed.
Ah - cool. FWIW, my 705 is happy to report distance too.
