Me, the missus n the dog are up 1st week of May and as I'm an average map reader at best I was wondering if any on here is local and fancies a ride? I'm staying here:

Just to rub it in like...

A walk up to the Fairy Lochs to the WW2 Liberator Wreck site is a worthwhile visit... never been to another place in Scotland since so sobering with its desolation in such stunning scenery,
Here is a blog post of my visit there with some info;

Aye - Fairy Lochs is a good call for a chilled walk. Nice in the evening when the light is a bit dimmer and more atmospheric.

Other fairly straightforward rides you might want to consider would be into Carnmore Bothy from Poolewe and into Loch na h-Oidhche from just outside Loch Bad an Sgalaig just outside Gairloch.

Rui-reidh - beautiful location at the end of a long single track road + iirc a couple of dodgy bridges 🙂 😯
Great fish supper at Na Mara in Gairloch.
Big sands has a lovely beach too with 'cafe' now.

But absolutely no riding anywhere in this area - probably not worth any body else ever going there 😉

Not local but love the area. Lots of good tracks. Torridons not to far away, I it was me I would go to Torridon and do the Classic route. Finish up in the hotel for a hearty meal as well!

Take a fishing rod and try your luck from the rocks around the lighthouse. If I remember correctly the tourist info shop had a little book with details of some walks in the local area, perhaps a few will be good for the bike also.

Shame the Melvaig Inn is closed, would have suggested you go there for a meal. Anyhow, the Old Inn at Gairloch has a good selection of beers and whisky's and OK food. If you feel flush, you could try the Badachro Inn- fantastic setting of an evening and you may see otters there and the food is good if pricy.

The routes scotroutes suggested give a good impression of the area.

Keep an eye out for the White Tailed eagles when staying at the lighthouse, they nest the other side of that headland and fly over a wide area from there.

You shouldn't need a GPS for the routes I've suggested but I could make up a couple of maps for you. Email in profile.

Probably a bit out of the way, but the path from Diabaig to Craig bothy is worth travelling to for an out + back. Great path with good features and slabby bits eg)

Unfortunately the link path round to Red Point from Craig is horrible, or was in 2010 anyway.

When I used to ride, looked at trying the path out of Inverasdale to Camas Mor (NG 812 859 - NG 762 916), just round the corner from Rubha Reidh, but never got round to it. Looks susceptible to the wet from Geograph but might provide some adventure time.

I think that Na Mura restaurant has closed down too. We ate there on its last night in May last year. Malveig Inn was great too and can second the recommendation for Mountain Coffee Company

Tollie path? Its a doddle to navigate.
One path, out and back, just follow the telegraph poles..
