Was thinking of doing a two day ride out of Blair Atholl at the weekend through the Gaick Pass to Feshiebridge and returning through Glen Feshie and Glen Tilt the following day.

Having seen this thread on a Cairngorm Circuit recently I'm a little concerned about the river crossings on the return leg, escpecially the Geldie Burn.

Anyone been through recently and have any idea of current river levels?

No idea - but the levels can change so quickly yesterday's news will be useless.

The SEPA site may give you some clues as to what the local river levels are like:

Thanks, I realise levels fluctuate a lot and had taken a peek at the SEPA data already.

A better question would perhaps be how bad can the Geldie crossing get? (although again that's another question that doesn't really have a straight answer ๐Ÿ™‚ )

I think I'm worried about it because it's a long way back out again if it is looking too dodgy to cross.

I doubt it will be too dangerous to cross - my memory is it does not have a lot of fall at that point so will not be flowing very fast. However it could well be a fairly deep wade. I seem to remeber being up to my knees even in summer but it is a few years ago.

However - this pic is captioned "Walkers making their way across the Geldie Burn, which is possible with safety only when it is not in spate."

My thoughts are the same as TJ.
I last did it on a sunny day after two days of torrential rain. The crossing was no more than a little bit tricky - I remember being frustrated because I got wet feet are failing to ride across.

Regarding the rest of your route: what could be a difficult crossing on the Gaick has now been bridged. Glen Feshie can be difficult at the best of times due to land slips. I've not died doing any of them though!

I found some other pics of bikers wading above their knees carrying their bikes

Thanks for the advice and photos folks. The Geldie/Bynack crossings were fine and the entire weekend was pretty spectacular. Crossed the Feshie a wee bit upstream from where the shoogly bridge used to be and even that was only knee deep.
