As title says. Going on 1st biking trip in a few weeks to spain, bringing the full face with me.

What's the best way to carry it? Should I put it in the bike bag or can it be carried on with hand luggage?

I normally fill it full of clothes and stick it in the middle of my hold bag, padded all round by other kit.

It'll be vulnerable in a bike bag, and you *might* get it on as hand luggage/hat, but personally I couldn't be dealing with the arguments.

I always put in in the bike bag in a soft helmet bag or two, behind the forks under the downtube where it's reasonably protected. It's a helmet, designed to take some knocks 🙂

I always carry it on. I have a Troy Lee which came in a cool helmet bag but they're cheap and easy to get. You can also stuff your tickets, passport and duty free Haribo in there.

I've literally just got a flight with my full face and used it as my personal item, put it in a Tesco bag and stored it under my seat. Most flights allow carry on luggage + a personal item.

I’ve carried mine on as hand luggage in a helmet bag and dangling off a rucksack clipped to the bag by the chin strap.

Never had an issue.

Interesting feedback. Has anyone ever been made to try and fit their helmet in one of those test cages next to the queue?

Bag size for the cabin is supposed to be 40x30x20 and my helmet is a smidge wider.

@Onzadog easyJet wouldn't let me take mine last year unless it went in, I ended up paying extra to take it on. I put it on and they said I couldn't get in the plane wearing it 😆

We're flying with BA this year and it's going in the bike bag.

Cheers. Worried that might be the case. Wondering if it would be safe between the wheels over the rear triangle in an eviction bike bag

I’ve always wrapped it in my clothes and put it in my check-in bag.

Looks like I'll have to. Feel like I need to take the normal lid in hand luggage just in case the full face doesn't survive

In its bag, in the bike bag, behind the forks as per @feed.

In a helmet bag as my personal item.

But that's the point of the whole question, my helmet is too wide to be considered a personal item.

So's mine, but it wasn't a problem for me.

If my helmet couldn't survive a trip in a bike bag I think I'd be a bit worried about its ability to do its job.

Two very different cases though. In use, it's got a close fitting head in it. In a bike bag or case, the whole structure of it can me compressed/collapsed

easyJet made me pay for a large have luggage item for my full face. I had to try and fit it in the size gauge. Went in the luggage wrapped up in the way home.

I think if you waited to be almost the last to board they would just want to get you on the plane and not worry.

I flew Singapore, Westjet and Air Canada this year and all of them let us carry out full face helmets as a personal item additional to hand luggage. Stored in the overhead lockers.
