FSA gossamer mega exo ROAD crank set which requires a mega exo 6200 BB which are like hens teeth.Â
In the past with 24mm mega exo ROAD and mtb I've used Shimano cups instead as the mega exo BBS are shite.Â
Is there any reason that this is not ok in this instance?Â
I did the same YEARS ago - not sure if newer FSA cranks are different.
But if they require a 24mm ID, and a 68/73 width - why not?
I'd measure the spindle length, just to make sure they're the same as a HT2 cranks. IIRC (way back) I had plastic spacers - not sure if they were peculiar to the BB, the cranks, or the frame. It was a long time ago.Â

Buy a new Shimano crank set and bb.

The annoying thing about MegaEXO is that it's slightly over 24mm. From the Wheels Manufacturing site:
NOTE: FSA MegaEXO crank spindle diameters can be as large as 24.07mm. These cranks will not work in normal 24x37 bearings. Please see our 24.07 x 37 bearing for use with these cranks.
Sometimes they fit, sometimes not. I got rid of mine for the same BB availability/longevity reason, and mine needed Italian threaded too.Â
So measuring the axle of the FSA crank and we get 115mm total with 92mm of axle if you subtract the splines and spacer/wavy washer (95mm if the spacers aren't used) whereas the grx crankÂ

Change the bearings, but retain the cups ? Done that with my older external Mega Exo.
the old cups went in the bin when i assumed that the BBR60 would be fine!!
