Having a bit of a problem with my front mech.

It's a deore jobbie, and for some reason it refuses to shift into smallest cog on the crankset. I've adjusted the lower limit screw so that the body of the deraillure moves as far into the frame as possible, but the chain refuses to shift into the cog if I'm on the bike(it doesn't even skip and splutter)

If I go onto the largest cog, then rapidly shift down, then it goes on ok(ish).

If I'm not sat on the bike, it goes onto the smallest cog fine.

The derailure is just over a year old, but I've only been riding regularly for the past 6 months.

You've goota check the whole thing through -

Cable tension from the shifter
Something in the mech cage jamming it
Position of the mech - Too high or not aligned with the chainrings?
Cage bent?
Chainring bolts tight?
Worn drive train?
Sticky cable?
BB set up - If it's a HT2 chainset, do you have the correct spacers in the right places?

I'll bet there's more too 🙂

You know to ease off pedalling when shifting?
