Raw, polished or lacquered frame and all polished (not painted silver) components for that engineered look.
Increasingly hard to achieve in the black anodised world we live in!

I'm in the middle of having a custom frame made, I'm going to have the paint job pirate themed, haven't worked out how yet although I may have one of the fork legs like a wooden one ๐Ÿ˜€

.. and because of the

black anodised world we live in!

I went for orange and white like so:

MOD: Image removed due to malware

and since that photo, the seat post and bars are now white with black superstar grips with orange collar\end caps.

I really must take another photo

Black and red... built it up 5 weeks ago.. broken ribs have meant I've been off it for the last 4 though!! Nice little scar where the bars speared me too... Still - it looks too good to be told off.

Cynic-Al.....not currently only been on a couple of local rides.

Raceface....loving that green charge, would look better with a polished silver seatpost.

I am an art teacher and artist.. I like very much some of the braver colour schemes and graphics I am seeing on modern bikes. Many wasted opportunities though! For example, some of these recent lime green offerings could have been made somwhat madder with red graphics! Look at a pair of trainers for inspiration or a t-shirt/polo shirt, ..

I recently did my Ragley mmmbop in lime green, black, but with splashes of brown and gold..

A little bit of colour theory wouldn't go amiss!

I'd like to see a move away from too many black parts.... too easy, too safe, too boring.

Studying a colour wheel and colour theory can be useful, as can looking at what manufacturers do, even of dis-similar products (that rely on colourways) like trainers, and other sportswear or clothing.

Black red and white or grey has been done to death (especially by Specialized) but I still like it. Complementaries (not complimentaries) i.e. opposite contrasts like blue/orange, yellow/violet, red/green can also be used to good affect. I did my lime Ragley in black with brown/gold detailing. I got this idea from some wallpaper.

Whilst moving up a frame size, I went from this gloss black ---->

[img] [/img]

To this custom RAL4010 ---->

[img] [/img]

All the parts were transplanted.

I've never got around to completely colour coordinating a bike.
I'v had a go with some pretty niche gear cables though. ๐Ÿ˜€

What you want is a colour scheme generator where you take a photo of a colour and then choose a type of scheme generator to use and you can see loads of colours that'll go well with it. I just so happen to know of such an application coming out for a quid a pop on the android pretty soon ๐Ÿ˜‰
