Is anyone using the 1x lever on a 2x setup? I figured it would sit over my right thumb.

No but just bought one a couple of weeks ago and had the same dilemma. Opted for the 2x lever in the end (with XT brakes and shifters) and is sits really neat on the LHS in between the brake lever and the shifter. Let me know if you would like a photo. Great dropper by the way - well impressed so far!
