I'm considering buying a new kashima-coated RP23 for my Superlight rather than getting the existing non-kashima one serviced since there always seem to be a few on eBay that are unused having come straight off of bikes.

Can anyone enlighten me as to the meaning of the different factory tuning settings i.e. boost valve tune/rebound/velocity/air can size and how these affect the way the bike will ride? Anybody know what settings Santa Cruz would have specced for the Superlight (v3)? Presumably I would want a new shock with the same settings, unless there is some advantage in changing?

Have a look around the base of the air-can (where the seal sits), all the ones i've seen have got a sticker with the compression and rebound settings on it.
