I have just done the dust wiper seal service on my Fox float fit 140 RCL forks and have seam to have lost 10 clicks of rebound adjustment! 😯
Instead of the claimed 18 clicks i have just 8 now. i have never forced the adjuster past it stops and have only done the wipers seals, so where have my other 10 clicks gone.
Any help welcome.
ps before doing the service the rebound adjuster sounded gritty , but i put that down too the crap inside the adjuster cap.
i pretty much guarentee you have done what i did! as i had the same scenario!
basically when you put the red adjuster nob back on, you MUST line up the grub screw with the indent in the rod adjuster....failing to do this means it will not engage and and obviously the clicks wont be there! in fact im 99.9% sure im right here as i too had 8 clicks when it was not aligned to the indent in the rod! line it up, screw the grub screw in and bobs your uncle!
at least you got to that stage, this time i managed to bloody overtighten the foot nut and snap the rod 🙁

ok also i know you are to go steady with the grub screw, but make sure its screwed in enough also to make sure it engages!
to prove if its the same mine, when you click the 8 settings you say you have now, does the rebound actually change??? as mine didnt, the clicks werent engaging hence not doing a thing, i assumed my rebound was broken, when i checked the grub screw it was quite loose and clearly not being engaging the rebound rod 🙂
problem solved, a burred base nut stopping the adjuster cap winding in.
new base nuts on order.

good stuff jim - glad you sorted it, those base nuts are lethal without a torque wrench 🙁 they just keep tightening (loosely) until without any form of force kaboom and snap! they dont even feel like they are tightening at all.....thats my excuse anyways 🙂
