ive done this numerous times and never had a problem, last time i did it, everything went swimmingly, then putting them back on and disaster, i somehow managed to overtighten the nut screw and it sheard straight off ๐ (a costly and time consuming error)
so as i cant find a torque wrench for a socket that goes that low (5.5nm) how on earth by hand am i suppose to know when its on safely/securely?
i seem to remember when tightening it when it snapped, that it didnt even feel remotely like it was anything near tight, then wham it clearly was!

above is cheap and good for stems etc.
But I thought most of the low range ones did - my park one does?
Edited scan read the op badly ๐ณ
Did the same myself, sheared the base valve right off.
๐
ETA: LoCo sorted it for me rather efficiently and cheaply ๐
loco you sorted it for me! any advice on how to do it myself without the same happening again? i know its mostly down to feel, but the problem is i just dont seem to recall the feel of it getting any tighter ๐
help, dont want to do the same again lol

It's about the same force you use to open a door handle.
Is that a really stiff door handle, or a really easy door handle?
Why are you even taking the lowers off? Are you actually changing the seal ?
nope was, going to clean dust wipers and put some more fork oil in each leg?
please tell me there is a way of doing so without full removal! ๐

Dunno about the oil though
