After every ride the seals are leaving a thick black residue on both stantions that requires a fair bit of rubbing with a damp towel to remove.Forks are about 9 months old and this has been happening for the last month or so.Am i just overdue a service or is it a more serious issue? Otherwise ive been really impressed with the fork till now.

I'd just strip them and do a general clean and oil service on them

if they've done more than 100 hrs, they're due a service

Looks like lack of seal lubrication causing the rubber in the seals to wear onto the stanchions.
How much oil is in them? How oftern do you lubricate and clean the seals themselves?

Bigyinn, what do you use to lubricate the seals.I have never done this, other than keeping everything clean so far have been fit and forget. In the past, ive sent previous fox forks for service anually and have had no other issues.

I use finish line red teflon dry lube, but you can also gewt fork juice or silicone spray which do similar things.
