Can anyone explain exactly what in a fox rear shock makes the shock set to the various tune settings i.e. F, M or L. Ive seen volume adjusters and was thinking is it just these? or something more? I have a CTD with climb tune F and compression tune L. I have been on a CTD with F and F tune and found it was much quicker on the rebound. I am finding the L compression maybe causing a slow rebound even having the switch turned fully to the fastest setting.
There's a shim stack, which controls the damping and rebound tune. Effectively how hard the compression is, and how fast the rebound is.
The volume reducers, do just that - reduce volume, so they affect the spring rate at the end of the stroke.
Basically the reduction in volume makes the shock feel harder the more it goes through the travel. You add reducers if the shock bottoms out too much, meaning you end up putting more pressure in - making the shock less supple on the small stuff.
F = Firm, M = medium, L = Low
Don't forget the BV element too
**** my life
Compression and rebound are separate settings ( blue and red knobs)
