i wouldn't have thought you'd kill it but i suspect it would ride like a hippopotamus

I was toying with the idea of a 36 Float, reduced to 140mm on mine. Would be interested to know if anyone has done this...

i only think the PA frame is rated up to 130/140mm forks.

the Alpine was designed for 160mm forks

Hi Orange. The new Prince Albert is only warrantied for forks up to 140mm. However, you can put whatever forks you like on it if you don't care about the warranty if it breaks.

Gra's idea sounds like the best one if you already have 36s.

Mine rides best about 120-130mm. Would not bother with more travel.

The mk1 i'm riding at the moment worked well with fox 130mm and 140mm although I prefer the 140 just to give it that little bit extra on the downs.

Si off here has had 36's on his small PA before, dont think he'd mind me saying he can be a little..er..direct in his riding style on occasions and its all still in one piece.

Cant comment on how it rides, i've got 140 fox floats on mine.

I'm 6ft 3 and ride the new 18" alpine. Prob not the best for long 30 mile days but with a long seatpost in there you can certainly get the leg stretch and it'll be more fun on the downs, especially with that fork.

Gotama, what's your inside leg measurement and what make/model and length seat post are you using?

34" inside leg with a Thomson Elite Inline seatpost. Can't remember the exact length but think its a 330mm or maybe 350mm.

Great bike by the way Mike, absolutely superb riding it round the peaslake area.

Edit: I'm pretty sure it's a 350mm post.

cheers all

tried a 19" dialled before and it was fine on the climbs even at 140mm (pikes)

got spare talas 36 and just wondered if they would be too long and make it too slack - say 69degree with a pike, then 67.5degree with a 36

the alpine doesn't have enough reach for me
