[Closed] Fork sag ,% of stated travel or visible stanchion?

Hi ,

Quick Question , trying to set sag on an old fox float to fork , it's supposed to be 130mm travel , it has about 150mm stanchion visible when locked out , which measurement am I looking for 20 per cent of for setting sag fox xc trail stuff ?

Fox forks don't fully compress through to the stanchion tops. Release all the air and fully compress. Then inflate and measure the full travel from where the o-ring stopped.

Start with a % of travel and tweak it from there, % Sag is just a starting point

Some forks sit 10mm or so into their total travel due to negative chamber pressure. I have always wondered whether sag should be measured as a percentage of total travel, or the travel left after the negative suck down?

Ah, I'd forgotten about the "oh no, our forks include a mystery amount of negative travel in what we quote as the travel" fun. I think sag should be a % of positive travel, as a starting point of course.
