I've just picked up a Whyte T129 which has a Yari RC boost. However I've ran a Pike RCT3 (non-boost) on my hardtail for about 18 months.

Do I stick with the Yari and potentially upgrade it over time or swap the Pike on and ditch the boost front end?

Decisions decisions!

I'm swaying more to the Pike..

I have both and would stick with the Pike. Much better fork.

How good is the new front wheel and are they both the same wheel size (sorry to ask a potentially stupid question)?

The Pike will have better damping but the Yari has a better chassis.

Also, is it the new 2019 Yari which I assume will have they new air spring?

I think I’d just try riding the Yari and see how you find it. If you had £200 spare you could pick up a charger for the Yari and you’d then have a Lyrik on your hands - which beats the Pike hands down (other than for weight).

2016 Yari.

Second hand bike, could do with the rear rim replaced, however I have a pair of wider rims sitting about so the plan would be to swap to the new rims and build a new front wheel with a 100mm hub.

29er everything.

2016 Yari.

Keep the Pike. Unless you're a really big lad/ladette then the superior damping will outweigh the stiffer chassis.
