Current weather conditions: we had about 6" snow last Friday, a lot of which is still lying. We had another inch or so last night and it is currently snowing again, about another inch or two so far.

Longer range forecast for weekend is a bit milder and wet so the trails will be either snow covered or very wet. Tyres suited to those conditions will be best. Keep an eye on the organisers website [or Pedalabikeaway site or FoDMTB site or DTV(Dean Trail Volunteers) site any of which may have info].

Even when its minging, FOD drains pretty well so I wouldn't suggest you use all out mud tyre, just some normal DH one will be fine. A mudguard or two wouldn't a mis.

It's going to be wet and muddy up there at the weekend as the temperatures are set to rise quite a bit by the weekend

Cheers matt

The only reasons the Race would be called of is if the emergency service could not get to the venue or there was no safe place for everyone to park.

As for the Track We can race in Snow, sleet, Rain etc... And I will be using Supertacky minions unless it dries out then highroller(but it won't)

Parking may be iffy if the area has been hammered into ice this week.

Morning Matt - we've had about another 3-4" snow over here at Staunton overnight!

Ref. Access to Pedalabikeaway, the site is shared with the local Highways Depot so the B4234 access road and the driveway into Pedalabikeaway is regularly gritted/kept clear so emergency access is generally good for wheeled vehicles. Like Matt says though, the car park could be fun although once up the access road it's pretty level.

Sunday race is postponed

from Mini Downhill;
This Sundays race is cancelled due to over 6 inches of snow on the track. We were hoping to clear all the snow off the track for the race to go ahead but there is just to much to move.

We take the safety our competitors very seriously and ...it is just not worth the risk of trying to race in this much snow. We are very sorry and we hope you understand our decision not the run the race this weekend but the weather is totally out of our control.

The race is now re-scheduled for next weekend 3rd February. any one who cannot make that date will be transferred to the 24th February. All riders who have entered the race will receive an email via the British Cycling website to respond so we know who wants a transfer to 24th Feb.

There will be riders who want a transfer to 24th Feb so we will opening entries for the 3rd February race on Thursday night for anyone who wants to enter the race 3rd Feb.
