[Closed] For a friend: What hardtail for £700

I've not got any more detail than that I'm afraid, looks like they need to replace a Rockhopper that was half inched and have £700 to play with.

They're looking at the Boardman Comp - any alternatives?
I'm not sure what size, but they are looking for a hardtail with discs, bought off the peg from a shop rather than built up from bits...

OK, some more details now: it's for a lady, about 5'7
Think she's reasonably into her cycling but mainly XC

The genesis was my second choice, but the Merlin just took the lead because it was shiny and I could cheaply upgrade the fork. And the bloke on the phone was really helpful.
