After me marathon my foot is playing up...from the day after, I'm getting varying degrees of pain (from the outside) when putting weight on it...it's what I'd imagine a cracked bone or heavy bruising to feel like, but no swelling or bruising present.
I guess it's NHS time if it doesn't get better...any thoughts?
i had a stress fracture felt a lot like that i guess.
and would tie in reasonably with a PB in a marathon.... maybe
i ignored it, ran on it, iced it and eventually limped so much on it that i failed to pick my foot up properly walking up stairs and broke (proper broke) my big toe.
if in doubt, go see the doc.
How long has the pain been? is it just when walking or at rest? If walking is it all the time or does it start after a small distance? Have you tried ice, rest, strapping etc? 'tis what i do.....
Pain since Monday (so 48 hrs, starting 24hrs after race, while walking). Pain is only when putting weight on foot in certain ways, gets worse after time on feet.
Not tried ice etc...will prob do so.
CBA with hassle of GP/expense of Physio if it's a case of "rest up".
mrs -who is a physio- did her's like this ... wasnt fracture but was a tiny ligament...still that tiny ligament cost 1 MRI and 4 x rays until they told her to take weight of it for couple of months. oh she was well pleased i can tell you...
anyway .. my point is there is likely very little that can do for your foot at this stage post event - even if fracture or ligament ...so expect ibuprofen, rest and ice is the way forward for a week or two at least
Try the ice and rest, with painkillers, anti inflams if needed. rest as much as poss. Wear your trainers or good supportive shoes, if pain doesnt reduce withn the week then see you Doc for referral...
Would go into causes and possibilities but not sure it would serve much use..
email in profile if needed.
