May have the afternoon Off Wednesday and in the area, is a 2 pm start plenty of time? Never done the trails before so no idea what it's like or how long it is, is it all marked up etc. Do you need the full repair kit etc or is it a steady pootle?

Yeah that'll give you plenty of time... takes me about 1 1/2 hrs at quite a steady pace, husband would do it in an hour if he didn't have to wait for me! 🙄 We usually just take a puncture repair kit just in case, but don't think you're ever that far from the visitors centre and its usually quite busy.

2pm start will be fine if you need to be back before 3pm. Its well signed and is not very testing - lots of twisty single track. I think its about 7 miles or so.

rides start before 2pm?

might have to try that one day.
doesnt fit with the "team faff racing" ethos though.

Sub 30 minutes I think.

I could do it in 40 and I'm not particulalry fit, although that was the original route (i.e. left at the start and up throught the big trees before going into the narrow twisty bit, and not the new bits of singletrack.

No need for too many spares, I destroyed a freehub there whilst trying to do a fast lap (theres a lot of corners to accelerate out of) and the points furthest form the car park are also the high points so you can roll back down, but even walking its be no more than 30min.

Looks like it's a winner then! One other thing is the car park pretty safe?

U'll do it in about 40 with a steady pootle if the 2 sections are still subject to diversion
Car park is fine, don't leave ur bike unattended though

Which sections are currently closed on FTD?

As of yesterday, sections 6 and 7 closed for maintenance.

Come to think of it, out of 16 sections, 1,3,4 and 5 dont exist anymore, 6 and 7 are closed and 13, 14, 15 and 16 soon to be no more, what the hell have we been riding?

Dont worry, its just the weird way sections come and go, get extended and changed! full loop available (small diversion) have fun!

No more section 13-16? Thats the best bits! By far the fastest bits anyway.

Is it 13 thats called chainslapper or soemthing? Was great fun pushing as hard as possible intot he last of the big berms and trying to pull up quick enough to get arround the tree.

14 was just fun trying to blow as much sand out of the big corners in as big a roost as possible

15, fun but nothing to write home about.

16, twisty twisty, and pretty fast.

These new bits better be good!

Ok lets not all get overly sentimental - see the other thread about it being one of the dullest places to ride in the country, a point i disagree with! - but all are still there and running well. 🙂 😀
