Yes it does look interesting and potentially light. I can't remember where I saw it but some of the Sea Otter video coverage gave a better view of how it works and the mechanics of the gears. I think the examples we have linked to are only four speed and more gears will add bulk

Reminded me of the Browning electronic chainrings from the early 1990s?
They were on the Stumpjumper Pro bikes but never made it to the UK if I remember correctly. 🤔
