i hate being right sometimesI think they've got a long battle ahead of themselves
alright i spoke to soon! BUT there are still a LOT of vague things in that app which the planner will want clarified before a decision is made and im sensing there will be a lot of conditions too. 🙁
I reckon 8 months til they are contemplating opening the DH tracks
I've signed up for the dig days so will be doing my best to help 🙂
Yet another wtf is going on bump!?
I checked the planning app earlier this week, still awaiting a decision on the application 🙁
I emailed them last week to see if there were any updates but no reply..
Gutted...I was sooooo excited about this!
Here's their reply when I asked on FB:
We've hit some delays. Had to change a few things with the plans. Just waiting for them to get signed off and digging can commence. We still massively appreciate everyone's support and patience
Fantastic news...let's hope there's something to ride by summer!

How can this be right if they don't have planning?
they 'may' have had to change their plans to take into account for wildlife flora and fauna so could have revised the plans or had to get supporting documents
AONB and green belt are strictly adhered to round ere so the council will need to ensure its watertight
all positive stuff though and some great support shown 😀
Bloody good luck to them. Be ideal for me 😀
Iy and me!
And easier for me than FoD 😀

Both of which are particularly hard to argue for with a dirty great dual carriageway right next to it and a proposed dual track bypass in the offing just over the hill. 🙄
A few mud tracks with some lumps and bumps thrown in pale into insignificance in comparison.
You'd sure think!
😀
I'm glad I started working in Gloucester recently 😀

Oh no you are right, you mean the vital part of infrastructure that will prevent multiple accidents each year on a dangerous road. The only single carriageway section between the m5 and the m4.
FFS I think your mixing up necessary safety improvements and having a laugh with your mates
I think he's trying to say that if they get planning for a big DC extension why wouldn't they get it for the DH tracks as they will impact the AONB less than a DC..

I think you have spectacularly missed the point.

A few mud tracks with some lumps and bumpsYes i may well have , but from a planning point of view they wont see it just as
and i think your being naive to think that's all it'll be...they are talking about a drag lift for a start so you've got all the infrastructure that goes with thatI take it you saw how much work Roger and Bigfoot et al had to put in to get what 5 tracks agreed with NE in cranham...
No he's right I was arguing that there's no justification for pointless "improvements" to the road network given the cost and . . . . . .
actually I can't be bothered, no v666ern has missed the point.

Cranham's a completely different kettle of fish though as while in the same area it's surrounded by some "precious" woodland and very wealthy individuals who are understandably protective of the area.
A rope tow will at worst be a wheel mounted in a solid structure at the top and a winching station at the bottom with an approx 2m wide hard track running between. Nothing that can't be simply removed. Will pale into insignificance in relation to the proposed road.
Shame there's no way to argue the point.
Speeder, i think im just being dim and theres not really a point here but cos this is the internet *fight*

You mean european importance beech woods and the neighbours in this instance being the Hicks Beach Estate ---
My point is that the bike track is for recreation so in 10 years time if no one is riding anymore then this may have caused 'harm' to the AONB. Whereas the bypass may yes have impacted the AONB but in the long term it will still be there and any intial 'harm' its caused will be outweighed by the decrease in fatal accidents on that stretch of road.
My original post was over the top as yesterday i was an hour late picking my son up from nursery after a lorry had crashed on the 419 reducing it down to a single carriageway
I think you have spectacularly missed the point.
I'm sure you're right. It's everybody else which is wrong. Obviously.

Which is fine as its your opinion but of the 4 people surveyed above its 3 versus 1 which isnt really a landslide. I am merely arguing my point which i believe is valid.
So if i said that you were wrong would you change your opinion to match everyone else?

If the trails don't get used and close down they will be easy enough to return to the natural state returning the AONB back to where it was whereas the bypass, which will be invaluable to the transport links which I use quite frequently, will have a permanent effect. Just my opinion of course..
So if i said that you were wrong would you change your opinion to match everyone else?
Nope. But it doesn't make a difference to the fact that speeder still makes a valid point.
The new road made not happen anyway.They are not looking into till 2020.If they had put the road where they originally planned before the pubs whinged they would go out of business there would not be all this hassle now.We have some strange ways in this country{Bloody Planning}
The local Tory propaganda sheet landed on the mat this morning with the headline
"AIR BALLON ROUNDABOUT - £250m INVESTMENT APPROVED!"
So . . . . . . . . . .about those dirt tracks.
any more news on this ?
Nothing new on the FB page about it for a long time now..
Just had this reply to a post on FB:
Everything's gone quiet as we have hit some delays and waiting on the final bit to be signed off. As you can imagine it's a huge project with a lot of red tape in our way. It's incredibly frustrating for everyone and we thank our wonderful customers for their contained patience and support. We know lots of rumours are going around but we can reassure people that we own the 100 acres and fully intend this Project to be open this year. Just please bear with us.
Looks like things have been moving slowly due to red tape but still hopeful to be opening this year.
We should all get down there and help them clear up the red tape that's in the way

nothing on the councils website, though they have got a back log of a month so have probably asked for an extension of time
They are not even going to start looking into the new road around the Air Balloon till 2020.So theres more chance of the Downhill tracks appearing 😉
Hmmph
looks like they've had to pull the original application and start the process again. At least its a positive and it hasn't just been shelved
is that link right? Says no document.

UPDATE FROM FlyUp
Looks like it's on the way 😀
We’re unbelievably happy to announce that after two years of blood, sweat, and sometimes even tears, the FlyUp 417 Project has finally been given full planning permission - and is all systems go!Despite being told by the experts that the red tape would be a quick and easy process, it’s dragged on and on, and has been a monumental challenge. Thankfully it’s now fully signed, sealed and delivered with only a few tweaks to the original plans.
where did you get that update?
Secret, internal, contact 😉
Nah, email update..
That is great news 🙂
fantastic!
Yep.... Great news! Can't wait.
