So my old 5.10 Impact Pro mid boots fell apart a a couple of weeks ago, I had some new one's that I purchased in a sale a couple of years ago, same size but putting these on they are much narrower than my old one's! Looking at new prices these are now rediculously expensive at 3x the cost of my last pair. I tried some 5.10 Freerider type shoes but found these are too thin and flexy like a cheap pair of trainers. Thought I'd get some of the newer 5.10 Trailcross mid shoes, but the problem is the very tight neoprene sock thing - I have lower back issues and wide feet so getting these on is impossible, I need a boot I can open up to put my feet into rather than put it on like a tight sock. I have some old Sombrio Shazam's mid shoes which are damn near perfect with a flap to cover the laces, but they don't make these anymore. So what's out there now that's a reasonable price, mid boot for better ankle support, flap to cover the laces would be good, wide fitting? The wide fitting is important, it's no good if my toes are being painfully squeezed and I have no where local to try anything on so it's got to be mail order. The old 5.10s and Sombrios fit fine but I guess manufacturers make things narrower to get more products out of their materials to get better profits these days so new 5.10s probably won't fit unless I size up a lot.

Thanks, useful - I did try a search but it just seemed to come up with lots of websites selling shoes? I think I had some of those older Vaude Moabs too and they were good ... also doubled in price!  Found some Ride Concepts too but struggling to find them in my size.

The less than useless search function has been brought up on here a few times, but nothing seems to get done about it.

"Acive 3 days ago" - click on it, closed 12 years ago...

You can select relevance or date I think, but it never seems to make any difference.

Google ads will always come at the top and then scroll down for threads, for what point it's worth

The New Shimano GF800's look really good but aren't out for a few weeks. Like the idea of a sole specifically designed to stay tacky in low temperatures.

Anyone planning to give them a go. Have an eye on them for Winter Eeeeebing.

"The new Shimano GF8 are flat-sole gravity shoes built for harsh, wet, and cold conditions or your typical British summer"

Warm enough for winter?

I'd also like an option which isn't £220!

Not sure this if is exactly what you're after, and CRC's remaining colour option is ...probably divisive, to go along with their discount, but I have the Leatt 3.0 Pro flat in a different colour and like them a lot.

> wide fit at the toe box, suits me a lot and sounds like you're in a similar boat.
> boa-style ratchet fit thingy instead of laces is great for comfort, fit and not getting soggy.
> I've not ridden them in winter yet, but they're definitely not waterproof, the vents let water through.
> seem to be plenty durable, have survived a week in the Alps without looking like they suffered.
> I'd rate the pedal grip as "not quite 5.10 Freerider Pro level" but still good enough for me.

I bought them in my standard shoe size and they seem true to that.

The Trailcross GTX. is a great winter boot. A lot easier to get on than the Trailcross mid because of velcro closure on the closure & significantly warmer.

I just got the Leatt 3.0 today to save the GTX for next year and it's definitely colder, which will be good for our summer. Size was spot on for a 10 1/2.

Their new winter boot might be worth a look.
